Contractor Website Homepage | 7 Sections That Get Calls 2026 |

Contractor website homepage layout, section by section, in the order that turns visitors into calls instead of compliments. Built live for a high-end outdoor living company, so you can audit your own homepage or brief a designer on it the same day. Episode 1 of the Contractor Website Playbook. The starting point is uncomfortable: pretty is not the job. A homepage that wins design compliments and produces no phone calls has failed. Everything here is ordered by what actually gets someone to pick up the phone. WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO - The 7 sections of a contractor homepage in exact top-to-bottom order - The 4 things that must be visible in the first 10 seconds on a phone, and why attention concentrates that hard at the top - Why only about 1 percent of visitors ever click a slideshow, and why 84 percent of those clicks land on slide one - The real-photo test: swapping a stock hero for a photo of the actual crew lifted quote clicks by about 45 percent - Services, projects and reviews in the right order, and what each one has to prove - The 4-field form rule, and the single extra field that cost one large travel company an estimated $12M a year - Speed marks worth passing: 2.5s largest contentful paint, 200ms interaction to next paint, 0.1 cumulative layout shift - The 3 things to delete from your homepage today - Where a great homepage will not help you at all CHAPTERS 00:00 Only 1% click your slideshow 00:45 Pretty is not the job, calls are 01:30 Section 1 and 2: the first screen and the trust strip 03:03 Section 3, 4 and 5: real projects, services, reviews 04:57 Section 6 and 7: how it works, the 4-field form, service area, speed 06:02 The 3 things to delete today 06:52 Where this will not help you 07:08 Recap, 10-second self audit and next episode WATCH NEXT How We Book 30 to 50 Appointments in 90 Days: https://youtu.be/43B9vKMlDl0?si=lT8APKgu8x5g8VX2 How to Rank #1 on Google Maps as a Contractor: https://youtu.be/wMR0Z23bWkc?si=0-BdC3Ma8WAZ04qp Google Business Profile Setup for Contractors: https://youtu.be/AAOVY6Vgfow?si=IJKLUjLbsNu4qbix WORK WITH US If you would rather have the site built and the calendar filled for you, that is what we do: 30 to 50 appointments on your calendar in the next 90 days, and if we fall short we keep working for free until you get them. NOTES ON THE DATA The conversion lifts quoted here come from individual published A/B tests on specific sites, not from large multi-site studies, so treat them as evidence that the change is worth testing rather than as a result you should expect. The carousel and eye tracking findings are older research that has been repeatedly replicated, but browsing behavior does shift. Google Ads for Contractors: 8 Settings to Change Before You Spend a Dollar (2026)

Google Ads for contractors, built properly: the first Search campaign setup in the exact order you click, with every default that wastes budget switched off. Google's setup wizard is designed to spend your money quickly. The first thing this video does is close it. From there it is eight settings, in order, for a remodeler, pool builder or outdoor living company putting $2,000 a month behind a Search campaign. Nothing is held back and nothing is sold until the last minute. If you follow along you will have a live campaign by the end of the afternoon. THE 8 SETTINGS - Expert Mode on, and auto-apply recommendations off - Search only, with search partners and the Display Network unchecked - Maximize Clicks with a cost per click cap, which is the right bidding strategy for a brand new account - Presence only location targeting, not the default presence or interest - 10 to 15 exact and phrase match keywords, one ad group per service, with the AI Max toggles off - 30 or more negative keywords on day one, plus the weekly search terms habit that keeps the list growing - Responsive ads and assets, and a dedicated landing page that is never your homepage - Call and form conversion tracking, so you can see which clicks became phone calls Plus the budget math: what $2,000 a month actually buys at current home services costs per click, which is roughly 166 clicks and around 10 leads at about $200 each. And the one number that tells you when you are allowed to hand the account over to Smart Bidding. CHAPTERS 00:00 The $100 vs $44 lead and why you close the wizard 00:56 Setting 1 and 2: Expert Mode, Search only, partners and Display off 02:13 Setting 3 and 4: bidding with a cap, Presence only locations 03:22 Setting 5: 10 to 15 keywords and the AI Max toggles 04:41 Setting 6: 30+ negative keywords on day one 05:37 Setting 7 and 8: ads, assets, landing page, call and form tracking 07:25 Settings recap card and the 30 conversion rule 08:10 What to build next and the offer ABOUT THE $100 VS $44 NUMBER That comparison comes from a single independent test, not a large benchmark: one practitioner measured about $100.37 cost per conversion with AI Max enabled against about $43.97 on phrase match. Google's own published figure points the other way, at roughly 7 percent more conversions at a similar cost per acquisition. Both are on screen in the video. The recommendation here is narrower than either claim: on a brand new account with no conversion history, turn the automated matching toggles off until you have data, then test them deliberately. Source chips appear on screen where each figure is used. NOTES ON THE DATA Google Ads defaults, labels and menu positions change frequently, and some of the behavior described here comes from 2026 practitioner reporting rather than documented defaults. If a screen looks different from what you see here, trust what is in front of you and check the current help article. Cost per click and cost per lead figures are published benchmark averages across many advertisers; your trade, metro and season will move them significantly. Angi vs HomeAdvisor vs Google LSA: Same $1,500 Budget, Which Books More Jobs 2026

Angi vs HomeAdvisor vs Google Local Services Ads: same $1,500 monthly budget, three lead sources, three very different piles of booked jobs. Start with the part most contractors do not know: Angi vs HomeAdvisor is not a real choice. They are one company, one shared lead pool, two storefronts. Choosing between them is choosing between two doors into the same room. So the real comparison is shared leads versus exclusive ones. We run the same $1,500 a month through both for a kitchen remodeler and show the full arithmetic on screen, including the part where the two numbers are not measuring the same thing. WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO - Why Angi and HomeAdvisor are one company with one lead pool, straight from Angi Inc's own filings - How Angi Leads actually charges: per consumer match whether or not you win the job, roughly $300 a year membership, 12 month auto-renewing terms, and the credit rules that exclude the most common bad leads - How Google Local Services Ads charge: only for valid calls and messages, leads are exclusive to you, the blue Verified badge, automatic credits, no annual contract - The benchmark on screen: 888 contractors, $6.72M in tracked spend, 126,650 leads, about 44 percent of Local Services leads booked, $53 blended per lead - The worked comparison on $1,500 a month: about 17.6 shared leads becoming roughly 1.8 signed jobs, against about 24 exclusive leads becoming roughly 10.6 booked appointments - When Angi, Local Services Ads, Houzz and Thumbtack are each genuinely worth it, and where the numbers stop working - The verdict ranking, and the $7.2 million lead-marketing order most contractors never heard about CHAPTERS 00:00 Same budget, three platforms, one shared-lead trap 00:48 Angi vs HomeAdvisor: one company, how it really charges 02:07 Google LSA: pay per valid lead, Verified, exclusive 03:05 The benchmark: 888 contractors, $6.72M, 44% booked 04:05 Same $1,500 budget: cost per booked appointment 05:53 When each platform is actually worth it 07:06 The verdict ranking and the $7.2 million penalty 07:48 Recap, next video, and the guarantee HOW TO READ THE $850 VS $141 COMPARISON These two figures are not the same unit, and the video says so on screen. The $141 is per booked appointment on Local Services Ads, calculated from published benchmark data. The $850 is per signed job on shared leads, and it is a modelled figure: no platform publishes an Angi appointment-set rate, so that column is built on a contractor-reported close rate of roughly 1 in 10 and is labelled as an assumption throughout. Put the two on the same footing and Local Services Ads only loses below about a 1-in-6 close, because $141 times 6 is about $846. Your own numbers will differ by trade, metro and how fast you answer the phone. NOTES ON THE DATA Angi publishes no price list, so all per-lead price bands here are third party estimates and vary by trade and metro. Close rates on shared leads are contractor-reported and range widely. The Local Services figures come from a published benchmark of other people's accounts, not from our clients, and describe averages rather than a prediction for your business. The FTC matter refers to a final order requiring payment of up to $7.2 million over marketing that represented leads as turning into jobs at rates that could not be substantiated; it is stated here only as far as the public record supports. Rank #1 on Google Maps The 5 Levers That Decide the Top 3 (2026)

How to rank higher on Google Maps as a contractor: the five levers that decide which three businesses show up, and why 41 reviews can beat 312. Everything here comes from Google's own local ranking page, a survey of 47 experts scoring 187 ranking factors, and controlled tests. Not guesses, and not the recycled advice your last agency sold you. Start with the number that makes this worth eight minutes: the top three Maps results take 126 percent more traffic and 93 percent more calls, clicks and direction requests than positions four to ten. Everything below position three is effectively invisible. WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO - The reviews paradox: how a remodeler with 41 reviews outranks one with 312, because recency and steady inflow beat raw volume, and reviews are only 20 percent of the ranking stack - Lever 1, Relevance: your primary category, the predefined services list that can move rank in 24 to 72 hours, and one page per service - Lever 2, Distance: why the service area you draw does nothing and your verified address does everything - Lever 3, Prominence: rating, review text, recency and steady inflow, plus the four things that do not move rank at all (owner replies, Google Posts, geo-tagged photos, keyword-stuffed reviews) - Lever 4, Being open when homeowners search, the hours factor that jumped 64 places up the rankings - Lever 5, The 20 minute Monday routine that keeps all of it running - What position 1 versus position 3 is actually worth on high-ticket jobs, with both click studies on screen - Where this will not work: proximity limits, AI local packs, and paid placements above the box CHAPTERS 00:00 The top 3 spots on Google Maps take the calls 00:41 Why 41 reviews can beat 312 01:55 Lever 1: Relevance, category and services 02:34 Lever 2: Distance, your address is the anchor 03:29 Lever 3: Prominence, the reviews that move rank 04:34 Lever 4: Be open when homeowners search 05:20 Lever 5: The 20 minute Monday routine 06:10 What position 1 vs position 3 is worth 06:50 Where this will not work 07:30 The 24 to 72 hour fix 08:02 What to watch next and how we do it for you WATCH NEXT Why Is My Business Not Showing Up on Google Maps? 7 Fixes: https://youtu.be/RPXXu05GKo4?si=2Ebb8T6g3HLsbKBj Google Business Profile Setup for Contractors: https://youtu.be/AAOVY6Vgfow?si=3Z2mJ9fnUeXuS-p- How We Book 30 to 50 Appointments in 90 Days: https://youtu.be/43B9vKMlDl0?si=pE6eAa0pfhlOfu8g WORK WITH US Want it done for you instead? $24,000 a Year on SEO What Actually Works for Contractors in 2026

SEO for contractors in 2026: what actually moves the phone, what agencies bill for that does not, and honest cost per booked job math on a $2,000 retainer. If you have paid an SEO retainer for a year and cannot name one job it produced, this video is your refund. We go through the 2026 local ranking factors as ranked by 47 experts across 187 factors, the review numbers homeowners actually use now, why generic blog posts and directory listings keep appearing on invoices, and the one line on your report that tells you in ten seconds whether the retainer is real. How to Set Up a Google Business Profile in 2026

Google Business Profile setup for contractors, field by field, the way it actually works in 2026 and not the old Google My Business way. This is episode one of the Local SEO for Contractors series. By the end you can set up or rebuild your profile from scratch the same day, including the decision most contractors get wrong: whether to show or hide your home address. Two things changed that make this urgent. The old playbook was to stuff keywords into your business name and wait for a postcard. Today that gets you suspended instead of ranked, and a suspension commonly means thirty days or more of invisibility while you fight to get reinstated. And since November 2024, Local Services Ads will not run at all without a verified Google Business Profile behind them. This listing is now the foundation of everything local on Google. WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO - Where your profile actually lives now that the Google My Business app is gone - Why you claim the listing Google already built from public data instead of creating a second one, and why duplicates are a suspension trigger - The business name rule: your exact real world name, no city, no service, no best, and why keyword stuffing actively hurts rankings after the Vicinity update - The customers-visit question: when to hide your home address, and why PO boxes, UPS mailboxes and virtual offices are banned outright - Service areas in 2026: up to twenty named cities, counties or zip codes, and why the radius circle is gone - How to pick your primary category, the single biggest map ranking input, and how many secondaries is too many - The call-tracking number trap that quietly fails verification - Video verification for service-area businesses: what the video has to prove, the contractor filming playbook, the filming rules, and the six-item fail checklist - Description, services, prices, hours, opening date and photos that make homeowners pick you - The edits that throw a verified profile straight back into verification, and how to avoid making them CHAPTERS 00:00 Why your old Google listing is costing you jobs 00:34 Where your profile actually lives now 00:54 Claim the listing, never create a duplicate 01:23 The business name rule that prevents suspension 02:06 Hide your home address: the service-area decision 02:45 Service areas: 20 named, no more radius 03:06 Picking your primary category 03:37 Phone and website: the call-tracking trap 04:13 Video verification: kill the old mental model 04:27 What your verification video must prove 04:46 The contractor filming playbook 05:04 The filming rules 05:23 The six-item fail checklist 05:59 Description and services 06:29 Hours, opening date and photos 06:45 The edits that undo your verification 07:12 The whole setup in one breath 07:31 Episode one wrap and what is next WORK WITH US If you would rather have your whole lead generation system done for you, we book 30 to 50 appointments on your calendar in 90 days, and if we fall short we keep working for free until you get them. Stop Buying Shared Roofing Leads Here Is What Actually Works in 2026

How to get roofing leads in 2026 without buying shared leads that four other roofers are calling too. Five channels ranked by real cost per booked job. Start with the anti-benchmark. A $50 shared roofing lead sounds cheap until you run the division: at an 8 to 15 percent close rate it takes about ten leads to book one job, which is $500 per booked job in lead cost alone. Add rep time, fuel and free inspections for homeowners who already signed with somebody else, and roofers put the all-in figure at $1,200 to $1,600 per booked replacement. On a $9,500 to $11,000 asphalt job, that is up to 15 percent of the ticket gone before you buy a single shingle. Then five channels where every lead is yours alone, ranked cheapest booked job first, each with the same four-row scorecard: cost per lead, close or book rate, cost per booked job, and time to first lead. WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO - The shared lead math in full, and why cheap leads that never close are the most expensive leads you can buy - Channel 1, referrals and the job-site radius play: roughly $200 per booked job, plus the yard sign math, the 3-3-3 canvassing pattern, and the legal checklist to run before anyone knocks on a door - Channel 2, Google Business Profile and the Map Pack: $5 to $25 per lead once mature, 93 percent of local searches, 44 percent of the clicks, and the honest cost of waiting months for it to compound - Channel 3, Google Local Services Ads: $55 to $95 per roofing lead, about a 44 percent book rate, $125 to $215 per booked appointment, and the August 2026 Performance Max merge - Channel 4, Facebook ads: $25 to $75 leads, retail versus storm campaigns, and the five minute follow-up rule that decides whether the cheap price survives - Channel 5, Google search ads: about $124 per lead well run and $228 on average, why clicks run $8 to $45, and why the highest intent traffic still pays - The whole video on one screen: shared versus exclusive, and the roughly $1,000 per job gap that adds up to a used truck One honest caveat kept on screen throughout: the Local Services figures are cost per booked appointment, not per closed job. Why Is My Business Not Showing Up on Google Maps? 7 Fixes for Contractors

Business not showing up on Google Maps? For contractors it is almost always one of seven fixable problems, and you can check every one in under a minute. This is the full diagnostic. Start with a sixty second test that tells you whether Google has hidden your listing or you simply are not ranking, then work the seven causes in order, most common first. Every fix includes the exact check and the exact repair. And fix seven is the one nobody warns contractors about: any Google user can suggest an edit on your listing, including a competitor marking you permanently closed. WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO - The sixty second name search that tells you which half of the list you are in, and the four things that can happen when you run it - How Google actually ranks local businesses: relevance, distance and prominence, plus the myth that you can pay for a better Maps rank (you cannot, ads are a separate slot) - Fix 1: never claimed or never verified, how video verification works for truck-based contractors, and why unverified now locks you out of Local Services Ads entirely - Fix 2: why you rank in a radius around your real location, and why the service area you draw inside your profile is a label that does not move your rank - Fix 3: the three suspension triggers that catch contractors, and how the one-shot appeal works including the 60 minute evidence window - Fix 4: the primary category mistake generic contractors make, and why your opening hours are a ranking factor - Fix 5: what a study of more than 8,000 businesses found about review recency beating raw review totals - Fix 6: finding duplicate listings that split your reviews, and when to delete versus merge - Fix 7: removing a false Permanently closed label, and stopping it coming back - Why the free Maps seats are shrinking in 2026: AI local packs, AI Overviews, and ad creep CHAPTERS 00:00 Your competitor is on Maps and you are not 00:33 The 60 second test: hidden or just not ranking 01:31 Fix 1: Claim and verify your profile 02:19 Fix 2: You rank around your real location 03:13 Fix 3: Suspended profiles and the one-shot appeal 04:03 Fix 4: Primary category and hours 04:47 Fix 5: Reviews, recency beats totals 05:20 The review fix in one line 05:35 Fix 6: Duplicate listings 06:16 Fix 7: Marked permanently closed 06:51 Why the free Maps slots are shrinking 07:28 Want it handled for you WORK WITH US If you would rather not spend your weekends fixing Google listings, that is literally what we do. Google Guaranteed Cost in 2026: What LSA Leads Really Cost

The same Google Guaranteed lead costs one contractor about $25 and another over $160. Same trade, same spot at the top of Google. This is the full 2026 cost breakdown of Local Services Ads, built on benchmark data covering 888 contractors, roughly $6.72M in tracked ad spend and 126,650 leads. Google also renamed the whole program while nobody was watching. In October 2025 the green Google Guaranteed badge became the blue Google Verified badge, and the $2,000 homeowner guarantee was discontinued with it. Then starting August 2026, Local Services Ads begins folding into the main Google Ads platform as a Performance Max campaign with pay per lead goals. Most articles you will find on this are out of date on both. And the number that actually decides whether this channel makes you money is not cost per lead. It is cost per booked job. Two contractors paying an identical $51 per lead end up at $85 or $204 per booked job depending on one thing: how the phone gets answered. WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO - Google Guaranteed is now Google Verified: what changed in October 2025, and what the badge costs (nothing monthly, you pay per lead) - Real cost per lead by trade: electrical, landscaping, general contracting, HVAC, plumbing, fencing, remodeling and roofing - Why the same trade runs $30 in a small market and $90+ in a competitive metro - Local Services Ads vs regular Google Ads: roughly half the cost per lead for the same trades - The auction is not highest bid wins: the five ranking factors Google actually publishes - The dashboard settings almost nobody opens: bid mode, weekly budget, job types, service areas, and the Direct Business Search toggle that is on by default - The cost per booked job math: why identical $51 leads become $85 or $204 - Why over 90% of these leads are phone calls, and what missed calls really cost you - How lead credits work now that manual disputes are dead - What changes when Local Services Ads merges into Google Ads starting August 2026 - The honest verdict: when to run this yourself, and when not to CHAPTERS 00:00 The $25 vs $160 lead gap 00:38 Google Guaranteed is now Google Verified 01:27 What LSA leads really cost by trade 02:52 The auction and ranking factors 03:16 The settings nobody opens 04:01 Missed calls bill you twice 04:12 Cost per booked job: the real math 04:57 Over 90% of these leads are calls 05:24 Refunds and lead credits today 05:52 The August 2026 Google Ads merge 06:38 Should you run LSA yourself? 07:08 How we run it for you WORK WITH US At SF Web Tech, Local Services Ads is one of four channels we run inside our appointment guarantee: 30 to 50 booked appointments on your calendar in 90 days, and if we fall short we keep working for free until you get them.
